In 1934 he released a new slimmer model, which is even used today. They became very popular during the 30 and 40, but in the 50's people declined for lighter models imported from EU. POPEYE THE SAILOR & HIS DARK SIDE

- ING - Popeye the Sailor: famous fictional hero that appears in comic strips and animated films and was created by Elzie Segar in 1928. His name comes from the English pop-eye which literally means eye bulging, and refers to his blind eye (common term among the sailors). Some say that he is the ancestor of the Superheroes.

During the '20s and '30s, when Popeye was created, the word "spinach" was the code used to refer to marijuana (you can hear "The Spinach Song" recorded in '38 by Julia Lee And Her Boyfriends, which makes clear reference to the subject). From here, some similarities begin to emerge... It is known that the sailors were the first to introduce this grass in the American culture, a product of his travels. The anti-marijuana propaganda of the time stated that the grass endowed super-strength or high strength. In some chapters, the sailor taking care of their crop of spinach, which reminds of a cannabis crop and in another he appear with a package of "pura espinaca boliviana" (just as it said on the wrapper). In the '60s Popeye snuff spinach in his pipe. Formerly, before the prohibition, marijuana was used as bird food and Popeye had a dog named "Birdseed". In '54, Popeye explain that Hercules was his ancestor and in one scene he is seen snuff garlic and eating spinach (metaphor to consume cocaine and marijuana?). You like it or not, are similarities,

The truth is that the character became one of the world's most famous and one of my favorite.

The ring is a popular icon, and has a strong meaning: union, wisdom, power, wealth, brotherhood, commitment, loyalty ... But on the subject of occultism, mysticism and religion symbolized the pagan beliefs, and therefore the enemy of the church. The Inquisition was a persecutor of witches and wizards, and magic ring was the object that they were carrying to make art under spells. For the Vikings symbolized the worship of the god Odin, the gods were the lords of the ring in heaven and kings were the lords of the ring in the ground. They whip for centuries the Christian settlements in Europe, so that the ring became a threat to the order of the cross. The rings have been used to commemorate an event or person, as talismans for certain powers and even like poisonous rings, to kill someone or commit suicide. The Nazis, designed a powerful ring to honor the merits of the most prominent members of the SS, called the Skull Ring (Totenkopfring).
