- ING - Is a seal used to secure or fasten two things together. Used in the ancient Greece and Rome by the military for clothing, belts, swords, armor, equipment, saddles. In the ancient time they were made of metal, bone and ivory. Before the zipper, buckles was used to fasten the boots, shoes and clothing. The Romans had decorative motifs in them, often representing animals engaged in mortal combats. Before the First World War, the British sailors began to use buckles attached to the leather belt, to avoid the rope (worn as belt) to rot and break in the wake of continuous contact with water. It was also easier to remove the belt, even with trembling fingers. And soon it became fashionable. When the western films became a box office hit, the costume designers wanted to give the Cowboys a symbol of class and elegance, so they took the buckle and added it to the costumes. Today the buckle is more decorative than anything else. But I like it!
- ESP - Es un cierre utilizado para sujetar o abrochar dos cosas entre sí. Fueron usadas en la antigua Grecia y Roma en el campo militar (vestimenta, cinturones de espadas, corazas, equipamento, silla de montar). En la antigüedad fueron hechas de metal, hueso y marfil. Antes de la invención de la cremallera se utilizaban para abrochar las botas, zapatos y prendas de vestir. Ya los romanos habían incluido motivos decorativos en ellas y a menudo representaban a los animales que participaban en combates mortales. Antes de la primera guerra mundial, los marineros británicos comenzaron a usar hebillas para poder atarse el cinturón de cuero, así evitaban que la soga (que usaban como cinturón) se pudriera y rompiera por el continuo contacto con el agua. Tambien eran facil de quitar, incluso con los dedos temblorosos. Muy pronto se pusieron de moda. Cuando las películas de vaqueros fueron éxito de taquillas, los diseñadores de vestuario quisieron darles a los Cowboys un simbolo de distinción y elegancia, y para ello usaron las hebillas. Hoy en día son un elemento decorativo más que otra cosa. Pero me gustan!
